Here comes the hero of Christmas!

Holidays are coming soon and unfortunately for me and all Firefox theme users we no longer have a custom Christmas theme. All that's left are some Personas backgrounds which in my opinion don't look that great when combined with the default theme. I have mentioned this before in one of my previous posts and what I've written is about to become a reality.

I am making a Christmas version of my Purple Fox theme ( preview below ).

In other words I will try to become the hero of Christmas and create a modified version of my Purple Fox theme which will include this awesome Christmas design. The idea came to me back in July when I was on a holiday with my family high in the Rila mountain.

All I can say is : I am happy with my theme. By far I have only created a custom toolbar background and I'll see if I can add custom Christmas icons to the add-ons manager as well. Also I will be uploading the theme around November 15th. It takes a week or two for an add-on to get reviewed. In other words you'll have a Christmas theme somewhere around November 20th. I will remove the Christmas version in January 2012. After that you should download the Classic Purple Fox theme with the 2 sub-skins.

Custom themes and Personas at the same time is possible!

I haven't been posting anything here last week but now I have found something which may sound interesting to you. I've been searching Firefox stuff on the internet a lot lately. I love visiting mozillazine.org .People are friendly and there's always someone who can help you when you have problems with Firefox, extensions or theme development ect.

While reading the theme development forums I've come across an interesting article called: Custom themes and Personas at the same time is possible!

When I first saw the title I said to myself this probably requires some Firefox modifications but I was surprised to see that  a developer with a nick name David.Vincent has developed and add-on which allows you to use a custom theme and a personas skin at the same time. I tried it and it works. There's only one tiny problem. It requires multiple restarts. Anyway the add-on is called Toggle Persona and you can download it from the Mozilla add-ons site or by clicking here : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/toggle-persona/

Here's how to use it :

This simple add-on install a button in the add-on bar.
With this button you can enable/disable Personas with one click (Grey : Persona disable - Blue : Persona enable).
This add-on works with default Firefox theme and all other themes (if they support Personas).

Instructions for personas for all themes :
* Choose a Personas in the galery (or in your themes manager if you already have downloaded personas)
* Restart Firefox.
* Select your theme in the theme manager.
* Restart Firefox.
* Enable Persona by clicking on the add-on bar button ('P' button icon must be blue).
* Restart Firefox.
* That's all. You have now a new style theme.
If you want to test an other persona, you must repeat all the steps from the beginning.

This add-on avoid to enter in the 'about:config' and toggle the preference 'lightweightThemes.isThemeSelected' to true. For novice users it is better, and confirmed users will save time.

If you have no Persona in the Themes Manager, the button will stay blue even if you click on it. It is not a bug.

If you don't want Persona display just for a moment, disable it with the button. Restart Firefox.
When you want to come back to the Persona, no need to reinstall it. You have just to enable Persona with the button. Restart Firefox.

As you can see the developer has given very detailed information about how to use Toggle Persona. I tried it and everything works great! Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/toggle-persona/ ,give the add-on a try and give the developer credit (write a review or something) .He did a really really nice job. It's not easy to create add-ons, trust me! : )

3rd Bloody Red sub-skin coming soon!

Users! New Bloody Red sub-skin as soon as version 7.0.19.09.11 gets reviewed!
The design is the same as Purple Fox skin 2 but it looks nice with Bloody Red as well so I'm making it a 3rd Bloody Red skin. I'll try to add new images to the add-ons manager as well.

7.0 is the number of Firefox I'm using in this case Firefox 7 beta

About the numbers people are saying that I should put the month in front of the date.I don't know where you live bug here in my country we write it date,month,year.I apologise if I confused someone but that's how I'm used to it.After all the theme is what matters not the version number.Don't criticize me for that. : )

Green Fox Lava!

What happens when you combine green fox and lava?Well the answer is simple Green Fox Lava.New version of Green Fox is coming soon but since I have my blog I decided to release a beta before the final release.
*New version of Green Fox includes new and improved graphics in other words I've added a few lava effects here and there and I think that the combination turned out to be good.
*Also the final version will include url color bug fix for Firefox 6 and above + tab group window bug.

Theme updates depend on donations!

Guys I'm presenting the way I'm going to update the themes from now on.The theme which has most donations will be first.For now I've received donations for 5 themes.Bloody Red,Blue Fox,Purple Fox,Orange Fox and Toy Factory.
This way I want to thank those who gave their money for my work.
Blue Fox got an update a month ago and new versions of Bloody Red and Purple Fox are waiting to be reviewed.I'm planning to update Orange fox next and after that Toy factory.I haven't got anything for other themes so they'll wait.

Firefox 8.0 alpha 1 first impressions!All themes support Firefox 8

Hi!
Yesterday I made a post about the new Mozilla Firefox 8.0a1.I tried it and in this short post I'll share my impressions.

1.Performance
I guess they made many performance improvements.The browser definitely feels and loads faster.
2.Design
No design improvements here.Same goes for Firefox 6 and 7They've only added few small icons here and theme but the normal user won't be able to notice any difference.
That's basically all I can say about Firefox 8.0 alpha 1.They haven't added new things but performance is all that matters.

Since there's almost nothing new in the design all add-ons which were compatible with Firefox 4 (or most of them) should work fine with Firefox 8 alpha.My themes work great with it.So what are you waiting for?Go and grab one. ;)

Bloody Red update soon!

Update for Bloody Red coming soon.I'm working on new toolbar buttons and I'd like to know what you think.Here's an image of the new toolbar.

Hi!
Users I've enabled a contribution option for my themes.When you visit their download pages you'll see a contribute button below the Add to Firefox button.Contributing will help to continue the support of all 10 themes which I own.How am I going to use the money?

1.Contributions help for faster future releases and faster bug fixes.In other words it's giving me motivation to work harder,fix bugs and add design improvements.

2.I'm running a 6 year old machine and right now I don't have money to buy a new one.This one is really really slow I'd be nice to buy a new one with Windows 7 so that I can test the themes.

3.Education.Education is important,right?I'm young and I'd be nice if I have money for education.Soon I'll be going to University and it'd be nice to invest more money in education.

Sorry if my English is bad.I hope you like my themes.I'll try to support them for future versions of Firefox.Donations help! : )

Blue Fox update coming soon!

I'm working on the Blue Fox theme.The update should be out soon.Here's what's going to be fixed and changed.

1.I'll add a new tab design
2.Fix a color bug in the about window
3.Fix many bugs in the tab view window
4.I'll try to make the theme archive as small as possible.Now it's 887kb and I'll try to shrink it to 800 or less if possible.
